FLOWERS IN BLOOM
Flowers In Bloom is programmed in Javascript, using an algorithm that cuts pieces of generative paper and layers them onto a digital canvas.
In this piece, Xie’s code brings to life an image that is human and organic. With its hand-made and tactile aesthetic, Flowers In Bloom challenges the cold roboticism of its own medium. The piece’s subject matter further underscores this dialogue: flowers represent human emotion and experience––gifted in times of passion, grief, and ceremony.
